The Evoluon is a former science museum erected by the electronics and electrical company Philips at Eindhoven in the Netherlands in 1966. Since its construction, it has become a landmark and a symbol for the city.

Eindhoven is now a center of technological innovation but Philips started by making light bulbs. It is therefore also called the city of light and this light sculpture is a tribute to light evolution.
48 digital leds create a series of different colorful light animations. It is dimmable, 3D printed and hand crafted.

This is a 3D printed light ornament in exact scale of the original building. Behind everyone of the 24 windows on the dome sits a digital LED that can produce every thinkable color. A programable microcontroller board controls  these LED’s and creates quite stunning light animations. The small dome on the top is a button with which you can change the animation, there are fourteen in total. By turning this button the lights can be lowered and pressing down and turning changes the light color.
The light ornament is powered by a 5 volt adapter which is included.
Every EvolumiA is handmade, the electronics soldered with human hands and it has a lifelong guarantee.

Special thanks go to my friend and the light animations programmer Wouter Witteman
and www.tinytronics.nl, the shop that supplies all the building materials.
